The Nissan Note is available with a choice of two petrol engines (1.4 and 1.6), and its popular and feisty 1.5-litre common-rail diesel.

The 1.5DCi diesel with 85bhp accelerates to 62mph in 13.0 seconds and offers 55.4mpg fuel economy.

The two petrol engines show the Note at its best.

The 1.6 petrol unit has 108bhp, reaches 62mph in 10.7 seconds and 42.2mpg fuel economy.

The 1.4 petrol unit has 87bhp, reaches 62mph in 13.1 seconds and 44.1mpg fuel economy.

The big surprise on the road is that the Note is so agile and rolls much less than an experienced driver would expect from such a tall vehicle. The suspension and chassis engineers have worked well to produce a taut handler with a comfortable ride, allowing the 1.6-litre Note in particular to excel in cross-country runs.
