Prices: On-the-road prices follow a simple value pattern starting at £11,450 for the entry-level 1.4 Extreme three-door and 1.4 Authentique five-door models. Adding two rear doors to the three-door hatch costs £500, while upgrading from Expression to Dynamique trim levels adds £500, as does the upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6-litre capacity. The same parameters exist across the saloon and Tourer variants, while £1,200 covers the 1.6 to 2.0-litre engine change in the CC. Note that the price guide here does not include all Megane variants.

VED and insurance: Most Mégane hatchback 1.5-litre diesels fall into band B, while the same engine in the saloon and Tourer and all 1.9-litre diesels are band C. 1.4 and 1.6-litre petrols are band D, the 2.0-litre Turbo band E (band F for Coupe-Cabriolet versions) and the standard 2.0-litre models are band F for Vehicle Excise Duty. Insurance ratings range from Groups 3 to 8 across the range, with the Coupe-Cabriolet models sitting in Groups 7 to 9 for and the 2.0-litre turbo in Group 12.

Carbon dioxide emissions: The 1.5dCi diesel emits 120-122g/km, while the 1.9-litre versions are 148g/km. The 1.4 16v petrol is 161-165g/km, but the 1.6 16v is 163-164g/km. The 2.0-litre Turbo emits 184-191g/km and the standard 2.0-litre engine 191-196g/km.
