Audi release details of the new S4 prior to its release in Paris.
IN a few weeks at 2008 Salon de l’Auto in Pris the new Audi S4 will be officially uncaged. Despite being more economical it still maintains its exceptional drive and zest for speed which is synonymous with the ‘S’ badge.
The new Supercharged V6 TFSI replaces the older, larger V8 but still operates at 333PS and 440Nm, early in the rev’s from 2.500 – 4,850 rpm. This added increase of early power and torque is what is key to maintaining its thrist for speed whilst being more economical in the long run.
It comes with a six speed manual or an optional seven speed S Tronic twin clutch transmission. Not only does this grind more effective power from the engine but also increases fuel economy.
The quattro four wheeled drive system is something that has become a hallmark of Audi and the benchmark for all other manufacturers. Since its arrival in the motorsport scene all those years ago it has come through an incredible evolutionary change. Now the quattro intelligently distrubutes its torque to the required wheels. This not only sigbnificantly improves grip and handling through corners but also improves fuel economy further driving in a more economical way on straight roads.
If that isn’t enough for you Audi have one more trick up their sleeve for the real fans of fine motoring. With the optional Audi drive selection you can change the adaptable dynamic systems, which enables the fine tuning of the throttle response, steering control and the shock absorbers.
Inside, the ‘S’ theme is subtly conveyed by sports seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara, and by ‘S’ embossing for the exclusive silver-faced dials and the multifunction sports steering wheel. The already high specification in the appreciably more spacious cabin can be augmented by options such as a 505-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system, the Audi Music Interface with iPod connectivity, adaptive cruise control, the Audi side assist lane change assistant, the Audi parking system advanced and adaptive light swivelling headlamps for improved corner illumination.
