During a recent performance of Papi at the 2011 American Music Awards (AMAs) in Los Angeles, Jennifer Lopez shared a stage with the new Fiat 500.

This proud synergy of music and motor was the culmination of a collaboration between J-Lo and Fiat which was announced earlier this year. The collaboration included a placement of the new Fiat 500C in her new music video – Papi – as well as in a 30 second trailer of the video. In addition, the singer also appears in two commercials for the Fiat entitled – for adverts do have titles – My World and Elegance. One features the Fiat 500C, the other a custom Fiat 500 by Gucci.

Cool.

I suppose it’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. Fiat get “street cred” through association with a luminary of modern toss whereas J-Lo, presumably, will finally be able to afford that gold-plated wainscot she’s wanted ever since she was Jenny from the block.

Since its re-launch in 2007, the Fiat 500 has won over the hearts of millions with its uber-chic style and quirky character but now the iconic city car is going big… it’s going Gucci!

Gucci’s top creative director Frida Giannini has given the famous iconic city car – once voted Britain’s sexiest car – the ultimate makeover, oozing style and sophiscation. And where better to make its debut but the New York Fashion Week?

So, what can we expect from the new designer supermini? Well, elegantly dressed in the company’s famous signature green and red stripe , the new Fiat 500 Gucci boasts super-hot designer alloy wheels emblazoned with the famous Gucci interlocking G symbol. The special edition model has also been kitted out inside with an ultra-chic hand-stitched steering wheel in two-tone ivory and white.

Prices for the special edition Fiat 500 Gucci haven’t been announced yet but as standard prices in the US cost about the same price as two Gucci hand-painted woven leather totes, we expect it to cost a pretty packet!

Fiat has recently unveiled a new range of original equipment brake products, designed to help owners keep their Fiat Group cars authentic.

Amongst this new ranger are extended lists of brake pad and disc kits, which allow the network to reduce the fitted price of replacement brake parts by up to 44 per cent.

The kits are now available on around half the Fiat and Alfa Romeo car parc and include Grande Punto, Panda, 500 and Bravo, along with Alfa Romeo’s 147 and MiTo models, with an average price reduction of 29 per cent across the range.

As part of the initiative a new collection of original equipment brake pads and separate fitting kits has also been launched which reduce the price of a replacement pad procedure by around 53 per cent.

For customers whose cars are no longer in production, the brake kit line-up is completed with a Magneti Marelli range, called Classic Line. This then covers out-of-production models and reduces prices by about 70 per cent. The range includes popular models such as Alfa 156, original Fiat Punto and Fiat Ulysse.

Rob Calver, director of parts and services, said: “I’m delighted we have been able to bring down the prices of these important parts.”

“It means that Fiat’s authorised dealer network is now competitive in price with the aftermarket, offering even greater value and peace of mind for customers.

“There’s no better place for customers to keep their Fiat and Alfa checked, repaired and operating to its optimum performance, than an official dealer.”

Some examples of prices for fitted kits include the Fiat Panda – from £136 inc VAT. The Fiat 500 – from £128 inc VAT and Grande Punto – from £176 inc VAT. One of the more expensive models is the Alfa 147 at £211 inc VAT.
