Volvo has been making excellent vehicles for decades. Each one is crafted to be the best it can be in its class, outperforming many of its competitors. Constantly innovative, Volvo has recently tried to conquer the eco-friendly and low emission car market, shaping many of its vehicles to perform at their peak.

Called the Automatic DRIVe diesel series, Volvo has recently launched its new automatic gearbox option in its four popular models: the S60 DRIVe, V60 DRIVe, V70 DRIVe and the S80 DRIVe. Stretching across a wide range of different vehicle styles, the purpose of this initiative is to create a perfect zero emissions vehicle.

Central to this initiative are several modifications in the vehicles engine and gearbox software. Similarly, the friction between gearbox components have been significantly reduced. Furthermore, electrical systems as well as the stop/star systems have been optimized for lower energy consumption.

Here the company managed to bring fuel consumption with an automatic gearbox to the same level as a manual one. Senior Vice President of Research and Development noted that this was quite an impressive achievement capable of creating many opportunities. This is certainty true when you see that the fuel consumption of the S60 is 65.7 mph, V60 and V70 is 62.8 mph, and even the S80 merely produces 62.8 mpg.

All of this is optimised to fit well within Volvo’s typical 4-cylinder 8-valve 1.6-litre diesel engine. Delivering around 115 bhp, these models come with broke energy regeneration, low rolling resistance tyres, catalyst converters and even a common rail fuel supply.  Not to be outshined, the cars also come with a Petrol T3 engine producing some 150 bhp. Volvo optimized its 1.6-litre T3 Engine and got the fuel consumption down to 49.0 mpg its S60 model.

Seeing as it’s now apparently all the rage for popstars to collaborate with cars, Volvo have teamed up with JLS in their newest music video, Do You Feel What I Feel?

JLS represent something of a remarkable success story. They’ve released three hit albums and are widely acknowledged to be one of the UK’s biggest boybands. And all this they achieved in the wake of  X-Factor involvement. Good for them! X-Factor winners are usually forgotten and found tied-up and murdered on the roadside within a month of the live final. Do You Feel What I Feel? is the latest single and third to be released from their recent album Jukebox. Their partnership with Volvo sees the group behind the wheels of three of their models – the C30, the S60 and the XC60 – which, incidentally, were all stars from the Twilight Saga films.

How did the boys feel about the collaboration? Apparently speaking as one autonomous entity, JLS said: We’re really excited to have Volvo partner with us on our latest video for ‘Do You Feel What I Feel?’. The cars were swagged out, especially the white XC60. Its siiick!”
