Jaguar has again shown its commitment to Team Sky by extending its partnership for the 2011 season.
Jaguar has supported the front-running team since last year by providing vehicles to transport vital equipment to and from events and providing backup should problems be encountered by the riders.
In addition to the 10 team cars, examples of the new XF and XJ will be provided, allowing the riders and support personnel a practical, comfortable and spacious environment in which to travel between events, including the Tour de France and the Vuelta de Espana events.
On 2nd July, a nine-man squad representing Team Sky will start the Tour de France. This will include talented Britons Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift.
Following the riders will be a fleet of specially adapted Jaguars, each of these will have four spare Pinarello Dogma 60.1 carbon frames put on the roof of the vehicle that can be switched in seconds should a fault develop on a bike being ridden by a member of the team.
During the upcoming Tour de France the Jaguar fleet will follow the team through 21 gruelling stages, with six mountain stages and a total of 2,156-miles with just two rest days factored into the schedule.
Team Principal of Team Sky, Dave Brailsford, commented: ‘It’s a tremendous boost to have the commitment made by Jaguar behind us, the logistical support provided by the vehicles is key to the smooth running of the team. We look forward to covering many more miles this season as we look to build on our performance over the past 12-months.’
Managing Director of Jaguar Cars UK, Geoff Cousins said: ‘We’re pleased to be able to continue our support of such a promising and dedicated team. We wish the riders the very best of luck and look forward to following their progress this season.’

When the world was introduced to sports cars in the 1940’s people wanted speed and class. With the developments in different companies like Ferrari and Lamborghini, what eventually resulted was a new breed of vehicle: the super car. Highly praised and incredibly expensive, these gas-guzzling cars were some of the fastest vehicles on the planet. Not known for their environmental nature, modern technology has fused with these automotive giants to produce hybrid vehicles.
Leading this new innovation is Jaguar, which as recently unveiled its £700,000 hybrid supercar in the UK. With only 250 to be built in partnership with Williams F1, the new C-X75 will certainly be a welcomed addition to Jaguars great lineup of fast vehicles.
Diminishing any skepticism as to it power, the car will go form naught to 60mph in just under three seconds. This blisteringly fast seep will allow it go have an all-electric range of 50km and a top speed of 200mph.
While small engine, medium sized vehicles like the Toyota Prius have dominated the hybrid market, having a luxury brand take the hot seat will allow others to follow in its footsteps. Certainly to no small part due to Williams F1 technology, critics have hailed the expansion of both companies into this field as a revolution.
While the vehicle itself might be impressive, the cars production will allow for the creation of many new jobs near Birmingham. Hiring around 100 skilled workers, the base will be a central part of Jaguar’s £5bn investment plan to rejuvenate the company and indeed the economy.
Not since the legendary XJ220 has Jaguar had such a great turnout and interest. Sleek and elegant, the C-X75 will be doing more than turning heads when you see it on UK motorways. To be build between 2013 and 2015, the car has proved that with cutting edge technology even super fast vehicles can act to better the environment.

Land Rover’s new baby is the smallest, lightest and most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever built, boasting a 2.0-litre Si4 direct injection turbocharged capable of generating up to 240 bhp and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. Three design themes – all with a distinct interior and exterior package – are available on the new model. The clever C-X75 concept boasts four 195bhp electric motors – one in each wheel – producing an impressive 780bhp and a top speed of 205mph. The C-X75’s sleek aluminium and carbon fibre bodywork also means it’s relatively light, helping the supercar to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds. Toyota RAV4 EV
The much anticipated Toyota RAV4 EV took center stage at the LA Auto Show as Toyota and Tesla showed off their production version of the all-electric car. Essentially, the new Toyota is just a RAV4 model kitted out with an all-electric powertrain and a few minor changes to its features and cosmetics. Little technical and performance details of the new RAV4 EV were actually revealed but Toyota did say the RAV4 hybrid is capable of a consistent 100 miles range and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph almost as good as the V6 version.
Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet
Nissan broke new ground this week when it unveiled the 2011 Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet – the first-ever crossover convertible. The striking new Murano Cross Cabriolet is an all-wheel-drive, four-seat monster, powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine capable of producing an impressive 265hp. Nissan claims the new model offers the open-air exhilaration of a convertible while extending the versatility of the existing Murano model. With room for four adults, space for golf bags or luggage (even with the top down), and a premium level interior, the Murano Cross Cabriolet represents a breakthrough in concept and design. The new Nissan model is expected to go on sale in early 2011.
Subaru Impreza Design Concept
Finally, previewing the automakers new ‘Confidence in Motion’ design and brand strategy, Subaru unleashed the Subaru Impreza Design Concept to audiences at the LA Auto Show. The sporty four-door coupe features a fresh exterior design, the latest infotainment and safety technology as well as Subaru’s next-generation 2.0-litre Boxer engine and CVT transmission. Subaru’s new active safety EyeSight system also made an appearance on the vehicle, which has been designed to help spots hazards around the car and displays images on the vehicles monitor.
All the above cars are on at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show from 19th – 28th November.

With its classic Jaguar styling, luxurious interior and impressive engine line-up, it’s hard to see how Jaguar can improve the XF Sports Saloon… but they have!
Starting this month, the highly successful Jaguar XF will now be available with a dramatic new appearance pack, aptly named the Black Pack.
Inspired by the Jaguar XK, the new exclusive Black Pack features menacing dark-grey 20’’ Draco alloy wheels with diamond turned rims, a gloss black grille and gloss black window surrounds. The new pack is available on XF Diesel S models with prices starting at £950.
“The Black Pack gives the XF a highly distinctive, very modern and a slightly edgy appearance,” said Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK. “Since the Black Pack and Speed Pack were launched on the XKR sports car at the Geneva Motor Show, almost half of XKR coupe buyers have selected one or both options – double our original estimate – and we expect the Black Pack will generate just as much excitement amongst XF customers.”
For added exclusivity, Jaguar has created a special colour palette exclusive to the XF Black Pack. Owners can choose from new paint colours including Polaris White, Spectrum Blue, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Lunar Grey and Liquid Silver, plus Kyanite Blue and Salsa Red, which are colours unique to the XFR.
The new Black Pack can also be combined with the XF Aerodynamic Pack which includes a re-profiled front bumper, striking black mesh inserts for the grille and lower air intakes and the muscular side sills from the XFR.
Since its launch, the Jaguar XF has sold more than 100,000 units worldwide and has received more than 60 international awards.

At the beginning of this year, Jaguar revamped its powertrain lineup, including the engines in the still fresh XF and the XK. The new direct injected gas V8 and up-rated diesel V6 provide improved efficiency and more power, especially in the case of the diesel. The 3.0L is now available in two flavors, 237 hp and 271 hp for the XF S. The crew at What Car? in the UK have had a chance to try out the XF S and, unsurprisingly, were impressed. The compression ignition XF is rated at 35 mpg (U.S.) with CO2 of just 179 g/km; very impressive for a luxury sports sedan like the XF. The new engines have better low end responsiveness than their predecessors as well as being quieter. Hopefully the success of the new diesels from German competitors will cause Jaguar to see fit to let us have a crack at the new models. We’re not holding our breath though.
