Peugeot 508 RXH 1 Peugeot Unveil 508 RXH Hybrid

Following the successful launch of the 508 Saloon and SW earlier this year, Peugeot has unveiled their new edition to the 508 line-up – the Peugeot 508 RXH diesel-electric hybrid.

Peugeot 508 RXH Pic31 Peugeot Unveil 508 RXH HybridFeaturing an elegant new design with distinctive LED lights and ‘floating’ new grille, the new Peugeot 508 RXH is set to take the high-end car market by storm when it’s released early next year, setting a new standard for ‘all-road’ capabilities.

The new top-of-the-range Peugeot 508 RXH is instantly recognisable thanks to its unique exterior design. Wider, higher and featuring a more refined style, the Peugeot 508 RXH boasts all-new distinctive LED day and night lights and a new ‘floating’ grille to give the appearance of three vertical lions claws on either side of the vehicle.

To reinforce its exclusive character, the interior of the Peugeot 508 RXH has been furnished with distinctive colours and luxurious materials. As expected from a top-end model, it’s also well-equipped with the latest technology including Peugeot’s Open & Go system, electric front seats, head up display, 18’’ wheels, panoramic glass roof, dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows and the latest generation audio and satellite navigation unit.

The four-wheel drive system has been designed to adapt to all use in all conditions while the ZEV 100% electric mode is ideal for driving around town, helping you save fuel and money. Fuel consumption figures are at an impressive 70.6mpg on a combined cycle with CO2 emissions at just 109g/km.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Peugeot RXH’s world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September this year.

The Peugeot 508 RXH is expected to hit UK showrooms in Spring 2012.

Introducing The Peugeot 508 RXH

64636peu 07110091 Introducing The Peugeot 508 RXH

Peugeot reckon that their new 508 RXH is going to raise the profile of the entire Peugeot brand through reinforcing their technological and environmental leadership.

And how – it’s equipped with a 2.0-litre Hybrid 4 drive train for diesel-electric drive. It’s got maximum power of 200 bhp, four wheel drive and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. In addition, it offers a 100% zero-emission electric mode which serves to reduce consumption in the Combined Cycle to 67.2 mpg with emissions of 109g/km of CO2.

That’s quite low, considering it’s a sizeable four-wheel drive.

It looks the part, too. Peugeot have gone for commanding road presence and a singular visual signature. Distinctive LED lights which are visible both day and night are designed to give an impression of three vertical “lion claws” on each side of its “floating” grille. So, yes, it will look a little bit like the Batmobile.

Inside, it’s high-tech all the way. As standard, it boasts an Open & Go Keyless system, electric front seats, a head up display, 18” wheels, a panoramic glass roof, dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows and the latest generation audio and satellite navigation unit.

The 508 RXH will be unveiled as a world premier at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2011, and will be on sale in Spring 2012.

Look out for this one. It’s got claws.

Peugeot has introduced a new electric car concept- the EX1 is the fastest-accelerating record-breaking electric car, which will be on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week.

Peugeot is a world-renowned brand that over 200 years has established a reputation for products of quality, style and durability.

Peugeot is also a sponsor of the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed and by way of demonstrating their excitement at this year’s event; they have introduced an advanced electric vehicle concept – the EX1.

The EX1 is capable of record-breaking acceleration, and will be running up the 1.16-mile hill climb, in the hands of Stéphane Caillet and well known motoring journalists during the weekend.

EX1 is propelled by two electric motors driving each axle with a combined power output of 340bhp, with torque at the wheels of 1680Nm which enables impressive acceleration with a capability of 0-62mph in 3.49 seconds.

Peugeot is also going to be displaying new and future products, some that make their UK debut at Goodwood.  The main one amongst these is the petrol-hybrid HR1 – a Compact MPV concept car that is a modern, bold design that emphasises the direction Peugeot is going in.

Peugeot i0n Arrives In UK

62904peu IMG 4737 Peugeot i0n Arrives In UK

The Peugeot i0n is the company’s latest generation electric car. The first to arrive in the UK was sold and delivered to EDF Energy, Britain’s largest producer of low carbon electricity, who intend to use the i0n in their fleet testing recharging solutions.

The i0n also happens to be the first vehicle to qualify under the Government’s OLEV scheme which offers a £5,000 grant to support the introduction of electric vehicles.

Quite the historic moment then.

Says Eric Salomon, Energy Field Services Director at EDF Energy: “We are delighted to add the first Peugeot iOn in the UK to our fleet. It fits in perfectly with our ambitions to provide low carbon solutions.

“EDF Energy, Britain’s largest producer of low-carbon electricity, fully supports the development of electric vehicles and believes the take-up of clean, electric transport to be crucial to Britain meeting its carbon reduction targets. This is why we are playing a leading role in the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

“Sustainability is at the heart of EDF Energy and initiatives like this will help us meet the targets set when we announced our Sustainability Commitments, one of the biggest packages of environmental and social measures announced by any British energy company.”

The Peugeot i0n goes on sale in the UK this month and is one of the first of the latest generation of four-seat urban electric cars. It has a potential range of 93 miles and can be recharged from a standard domestic plug in six hours or so, or via a quick charger in under an hour.

Being a 100% electric vehicle, it’s very much the gift that keeps giving. It benefits from a range of cost savings when compared to a standard petrol or diesel powered car. The obvious example is the cost of fuel, which Peugeot point out could save you up to £1765.05 a year. Also, if you live in or near London, you’ll be exempt from the congestion charge. This is a saving of £1696 a year. Furthermore, where applicable you’ll be exempt from parking charges. The City of Westminster, for example, charges not for parking for electric vehicles. Peugeot worked out that if you consider parking to cost £10 a day over 230 working days, this is an additional saving of £1939 a year.

So, for motorists who live or work in The City of Westminster (for instance), there’s a potential saving of £5400.05 per year if you drive the Peugeot i0n. I doubt even Clarkson would argue with that. Even if you don’t live in Westminster, them’s still incredible savings on fuel.

Says Phil Robson, Fleet Sales Director at Peugeot UK: “We are very pleased to be delivering our first Peugeot i0n in the UK to EDF Energy. Electric cars are an important part of future urban mobility, alongside hybrid vehicles and highly efficient diesel and petrol engines. As well as the all electric Peugeot i0n, we will also this year launch the world’s first diesel hybrid vehicle the 3008 HYbrid4, new e-HDi micro hybrid technology and later a range of highly efficient three cylinder petrol engines. Together these new vehicles will help reduce CO2 emissions and reduce customers’ motoring costs.”

Thanks, Phil.

Peugeot Appoints Electric Vehicle Specialist Dealers

62750peu Peugeot Appoints Electric Vehicle Specialist Dealers

Peugeot, reacting in turn to Government support and media and public interest in electric cars, have appointed twenty two of their existing dealers to sell and service their 100% electric car, the iOn.

These specialist dealers are conveniently geographically aligned to the “Plugged-in Places” – those areas which will receive Government support to build the necessary charging infrastructure to support electric vehicles.

This news follows Mitsubishi’s recent announcement that they would be “electrifying” certain of their dealerships. However, unlike Mitsubishi, Peugeot have made such services available to their Welsh customers. As such, their efforts come across as a lot more admirable.

You’ll find three specialist dealers in the Midlands, two in the East of England, two in the North East, two in Scotland, two in London and one each in Milton Keynes, Manchester and Northern Ireland. In addition, there are another seven across the South, South West and South Wales (hooray!). Plus one in Leeds. Never forget Leeds.

Each of these specialist dealers will have available a Peugeot iOn demonstrator, a dedicated electric vehicle charging point, specially trained staff and all the necessary specialist servicing equipment you might expect to find in such a specialist venture.

Peugeot 3008 Crossover Spec Update

Peugeot 3008 Peugeot 3008 Crossover Spec Update

Peugeot must be pretty pleased with the success of the Peugeot 3008 Crossover…

First, it won over the hearts of car buyers and the motoring media when it launched in 2009. Then it bagged two major awards – including What Car? ‘Car of the Year’ – for its trophy cabinet. And to date, it’s already recorded over 10,000 sales in the UK this year. Impressed eh? It might come as a bit of a surprise then to find out that Peugeot are making some changes to the mighty 3008… but its all for the better.

From this month, Peugeot 3008 Sport and Exclusive models will benefit from an enhanced standard specification, including extras such as Bluetooth and USB connection. New Peugeot 3008 models will also be available with a new Euro 5 112 HDi diesel engine, offering improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Kick starting the changes is the new Sport specification which will now receive Peugeot Connect USB with Bluetooth (which enables a portable MP3 or iPod to be connected to the car, and hands-free communication with a compatible mobile phone), flat folding passenger seat and automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers as standard.

The comprehensively equipped Exclusive model also gains a few extra features including Peugeot Connect USB and Bluetooth, flat folding passenger seat, electric folding mirrors, electro-chrome interior mirror and exterior courtesy lights, all now fitted as standard.

From October, the Peugeot 3008 Crossover will be available with a new Euro 5 112 HDi diesel engine which replaces the existing HDi 110 Euro 4 engine and provides improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The new Peugeot 3008 range starts from £16,695 on-the-road or to lease from just £199.95 + VAT a month with Nationwide Vehicle Contracts. Check out our latest contract hire deals to bag a great deal on your next lease car.
