Fitness Guru Euan Paterson gives us fitness tips to do whilst you drive.
Everyday people spend a massive amount of time sat stationary in cars. Either whilst not moving or as a passenger people spend a lot of time sat still. Scottish fitness specialist Euan Paterson tells us how we can use this time to stay fit instead of getting fat.
“The obvious solution would be to get out the car and run or ride a bike, but that just isn’t feasible of everyone and driving to work is essential,” comments Euan. “This time in the car can be used to burn some calories and strengthen some important muscle groups.”
Euan explains, “The best exercises to do are simple isometric contractions which simply involves squeezing and releasing muscle groups for example you buttocks and abdominals. Leg raises and shoulder raises are also easy and effective exercises to get some great tone and definition.”
A word of caution is necessary. It is best that these are not performed whilst driving and exercises should not interfere with the driver. Even when stationary all passengers should be wearing a seat belt.
Euans protege and Wiltshire strongman Alex Guerin takes things one step further and as part of his training regularly pulls and even lifts cars.
