Honda Civic Type R revealed

51227hon Honda Civic Type R revealedHonda’s recently-launched Civic hatchback range is to be joined by a high-performance Type R version in March 2007. Already established as one of the most sporting of all hot hatches on the market, the new Type R will feature new technical tweaks to improve engine response and handling. It will use the same 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine as the previous model, engineered to provide better torque and response across a wider rev range. Power is only marginally greater, but is now achieved at 8,000 rather than 7,400rpm. Acceleration from 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 146mph will match the old model.

The new car features sports styling cues, including a deep front air dam and rear spoiler, and rides 15mm lower on 18-inch alloys shod with 225/40 ZR18 tyres.
