The Fabia has been a central element of Skoda’s success and a new generation model due for launch in May 2007 will seek to build on the achievements of its predecessor. The new supermini is longer and taller than its predecessor, giving more
interior space. Four petrol and three diesel engines will be available, with the 1.2-litre petrol units engineered to produce more power. For the first time a six-speed Tiprtonic automatic transmission will be available, offered as an option with the 1.6-litre petrol engine. Specifications will be announced nearer the launch date, but Skoda has announced side airbags will be come standard on all models. The current Fabia estate will remain in production until its replacement arrives during 2008.
