Thankfully the heir to the throne is not admitting to drink driving but indicating his commitment to combating climate change.
In his recent household report for 2008 it shows that he has converted his beloved Aston Martin to run on wine. The car was a 21st birthday gift from Queen Elizabeth and has been modified to run on surplus wine as part of his campaign to cut his carbon emissions by 25%. He uses wine from a vineyard near his Highgrove estate that is surplus due to the EU wine quotas and converts it into fuel. The reports also show that he has converted two Jaguars, an Audi and a Range Rover to run on 100% biodiesel made from used cooking oil.
The modifications may affect the performance of these vehicles but as part of a bigger scheme has helped him reduce emissions by a massive 18%. Prince Charles is showing a real commitment towards reducing his dependence on fossil fuels and highlights ways we can all adapt to tackle climate change.
