Australian Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo is confident he will continue in Formula One in 2013.

“I always saw it as a two year programme at least with Toro Rosso,” Ricciardo said in Germany. “I think the team as well would like to see us go through another year and really try and squeeze some more out of us.

“I’m not signed for next year but I imagine if we continue as we are I don’t expect much will change.”

The 23-year-old made his debut at last year’s British Grand Prix, driving for HRT. During the off-season the Perth-born racer switched to Toro Rosso, the development squad for Mark Webber’s Red Bull team.

Ricciardo has been touted as a likely replacement for Webber when the 35-year-old decides to retire, having progressed to Formula One through the same driver development programme as Webber’s Red Bull teammate Sebastian Vettel.
