Silverstone Classic 2012 Looks To Be Best Yet
Silverstone Classic, taking place 20-22 July, is the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, and this year’s event is already shaping up to be the most entertaining and action-packed to date.
As per, the action will unfold at Northamptonshire’s famous Silverstone Circuit just two weeks after the Santander Formula 1 British Grand Prix draws to a close.
More than 800 of the world’s most beloved historic racing cars are set to pack the paddocks, with a wall-to-wall schedule of races all to be staged on the full Grand Prix circuit.
In addition, more than 7,000 classic cars will be displayed over the years, with many an important marque milestone to be celebrated.
But if all this petrol-scented action isn’t enough to give you your kicks, there’ll also be live rock music from Adam Ant and Mike & The Mechanics; a star-studded celebrity race; air displays; a vintage fun fair; fabulous shopping opportunities and rally car rides.
But that’s not all! AA World is an exciting new interactive automotive theme park which promises to provide attendees of all generations a chance to partake in a huge selection of free driving experiences. Even the youngest of guests can take to the wheel of electric cars; whilst teenagers can enjoy taster driving lessons as their elders engage in hot laps around the Stowe Circuit in some of the world’s fastest and most desirable performance cars.
Says event director Nick Wigley: “The Silverstone Classic just gets bigger and better every year with even more for all ages to see and do.
“The quality and quantity of our grids and car club displays is second to none while our new partnership with the AA is playing a significant role in extending the event’s massive appeal to an even wider family audience.
“We thought last year’s blockbuster was going to be hard to match but, with so many unmissable highlights already confirmed, it’s clear that this summer’s festival is going to be the best yet.”
