When flicking through some car insurance websites recently, I came across some extremely amusing car insurance stories which I just had to share.

One man told the AA how when he was driving home from the pub, a sheep suddenly landed on his Fiat Punto car bonnet! He explained how he was driving under a bypass, it had jumped off in fright when a lorry that had overturned!

Car insurance company Elephant say the strangest claims they have ever had to deal with include a camel that was passing and kicked a car, a windscreen that was shattered after an angry squirrel threw a nut and a bonnet destroyed when a horse decided to sit on it!

It seems people do not hold back when making up tall stories so they can claim on their insurance, for something which was most probably their fault.

Estimates from the AA suggest that every year, there are about 42,500 accidents involving collisions with deer- costing insurers over £59 million.

One lady had to claim after taking the ‘One for sorrow, two for joy’ saying about magpies a little too far. After seeing one magpie, she was concentrating that much on finding the other that her eyes weren’t on the road and she crashed! Wonder if she blamed the magpie!

Another lady had to claim after several airborne shopping trolleys bounced off the bonnet off her car, they’d shot out of the back of a delivery lorry.

Finally, there was an angry man who claimed his car had been badly damaged by a forklift truck that rained apples down on it.

With all these crazy stories, it’s important to make sure that your car insurance is up to date and to shop around for the best quote. You just never know when an angry squirrel may come at you!
