There’s a choice of four petrol and three diesel engines. The petrol range includes a 103bhp 1.2 litre TSI and a 1.4 litre TSI that’s available with either 120 or 138bhp.

The diesel range includes the 104bhp 1.6 litre TDi and a 148bhp 2.0 litre TDi. There’s also a 108bhp 1.6 litre TDi. Emitting just 87.5g/km of CO2 and capable of 85.6mpg, this is easily the most cost-effective engine option for the new Volkswagen Golf Estate, though all engines are fitted with BlueMotion Technology for enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions.

Transmission is available as 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and as the 6 or 7-speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). Adaptive Chassis Control is also an optional extra, which allows you to choose the style of drive – be it comfortable or sporty – at the touch of a button. Active safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Adaptive Cruise Control.

More Space

The Volkswagen Golf Estate is obviously larger than its hatchback counterpart, but it also offers more space than even its predecessor. Compared to the outgoing Volkswagen Golf Estate, the new model offers 605 litres boot space. Even better, with the rear seats folded flat, where previously you could only look forward to 1,495 litres, you now get 1,620 litres total load space to play with. And thanks to the variable boot floor, the storage options are even more flexible.

Comfort & Technology

The extra space means that the new Volkswagen Golf Estate offers more legroom than ever before, and the new panoramic sunroof helps to create a light, bright and airy feel in the cabin. Your passengers will love it, but so will you, as the driver focused dashboard has been painstakingly optimised to provide a clear and intuitive driving experience.

Your drive is further enhanced by the electronic power steering, the multifunctional steering wheel, the advanced Driver Alert System and the premium Discover Pro streamlined system that incorporates satellite, navigation and entertainment.
