Since Ford’s new Kuga’s launch in the UK, more than 200,000 vehicles have been sold across Europe, and Ford have now decided to update the car to attract even more customers.
So let’s put a little more meat on the bones of the significant range of upgrades that Ford have added to the Kuga, including its most powerful diesel powertrain to date, lower CO2 emissions, and more advanced technologies as standard including Auto-Start-Stop and Active Grille Shutter.
95% of Kugas sold in the UK during the first nine months of 2014ere powered by Ford’s 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine, and now that has had its peak power increased to 180PS and peak torque to 400Nm, helping to deliver the most pulling power ever for Kuga – an impressive feature especially when you consider that it can be enhanced by Ford’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system via customer choice.
And now Ford have added their new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine to the Kuga options - an engine that helps to reduce CO2 emissions by 7% to 143g/km when compared to the outgoing 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine – as well as a 150PS 2.0-litre TDCi option that delivers an improved (by 12%) emission figure of 122g/km CO2.
Added to the Ford Kuga is Ford SYNC with AppLink which allows drivers to voice-activate apps such as Spotify, Audioteka, Glympse and Radioplayer, a great safety feature as it allows them to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel rather than try and sort it all out like we all do one-handed!
Ford’s latest sales data revealed a high take-rate for Kuga’s advanced driver assistance technologies: around a third of vehicles were sold with Rear View Camera and more than half featured Active Park Assist technology that helps drivers to parallel park.
Already supplied with the standard Cruise Control with Adjustable Speed Limiter (on the Titanium series and above) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, the Ford Kuga is also available with Adaptive Cruise Control including Forward Alert. Also available as options are such technological advances as Rear View Camera and Active Park Assist. Hands-Free Tailgate, Blind Spot Information System, Active City Stop, Lane Keeping Aid, Lane Keeping Alert, Auto High Beam, Driver Alert, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
