Launched with the help of major fashion & beauty e-retailer ASOS, and designed in collaboration with Benefit Cosmetics, Citroën has revealed their DS3 special editions.
What has been dubbed the DS3 by Benefit line-up is made up of two models based on the existing DSign and DStyle trim levels (with a third to be released later this year) and take inspiration “from Benefit’s fun and iconic beauty products.”
And as part of the deal, the first ever online car boutique has been formed as Citroën and Benefit worked closely with the UK's largest independent online fashion and beauty retailer (ASOS.) This can be found at www.asos.com/citroen where visitors to the online page can look at these two special editions, see just what inspired the style, have a look at the Benefit fashion and accessories, and even book a test drive.
As you can see by the picture, the body of the DS3 DSign is finished in Ruby Red metallic paint, and this was inspired by Benefits’ world renowned signature Benetint™ red lip and cheek stain, yet inside is pure Citroën with an efficient VTi 82 manual gearbox engine and DSign specification...and some!
It’s not all red, as the roof and door mirrors are white, contrasting with the dark tinted rear windows and chrome detailing and complementing the 17” white alloy wheels.
The dashboard is white, along with the air vent surrounds and gear stick cap;, and then there are bespoke black velour carpet mats with red piping and red Benefit logo, and aluminium pedals. When it comes to specification then you’ll find that generosity wasn’t lacking amongst the designers and planners of the DS3 DSign, as the car has day-time running LED lights, air conditioning and a Connecting Box with Bluetooth® and USB connectivity as standard along with attractive, stylish and sophisticated Alcantara trim on the sports seats.
Where the Dsign was inspired by the redness of a lipstick, DS3 DStyle was inspired by the UK’s best selling mascara; ‘They’re Real!’™. And as you can see from the picture, the blackness of the mascara is reflected (quite literally) by the distinctive metallic grey paintwork on the DStyle.
Powered by a sportyVTi 120 manual engine and based on the DStyle Plus trim when it comes to specification, the car has a Benefit Orange-coloured roof, door mirrors and wheel centre caps before 17” black alloy wheels and dark tinted rear windows complete the dynamic styling of he car.
Inside, the colour match continues with a gloss black dashboard, air vent surrounds and gear stick cap; bespoke black velour carpet mats with orange piping and orange Benefit logo, and aluminium pedals – all enhanced by the luxurious Alcantara trim on the sports seats.
When it comes to specification, there is a City Signature pack extra’d and contains automatic digital air conditioning, automatically illuminating headlamps, automatic rain sensitive wipers, rear parking sensors, electrically heated and folding door mirrors, an electrochrome rear view mirror, Connecting Box system (Bluetooth® and USB ), interior mood lighting and a front central armrest amongst other things.
Benefit Cosmetics Managing Directors, Ian Marshall & Gail Bojarski said: “Following the overwhelmingly positive response to ‘DS3 by Benefit concept’, which was launched at the end of last year, we are very excited with plans to launch a whole series of limited edition ‘Benefit’ DS3’s. With Citroën we have found a partner that shares our forward thinking vision and who also likes to do things differently. To launch the series, we are delighted to be partnering with ASOS to create the world’s first online car boutique!
“Now girls can buy their favourite Benefit products, shop the trends and book a test drive in the hottest car on the road, all in one click.”
And Jules Tilstone, Marketing Director at Citroën UK added: “Following the overwhelming response to our DS3 by Benefit concept that we showcased last year, we’re delighted to be launching these road-ready special editions. Working with such a fun and enthusiastic company as Benefit has been a terrific experience and we look forward to introducing new audiences to the style and charm of Citroën DS3 with these collaboration models – the height of four-wheel-fashion.”
I guess the fashionista will be all over the DStyle and DSign like a cheap suit – or NOT SO CHEAP suit?
