Volvo Cars’ new XC60 mid-size SUV has started to roll off the production line at the company’s Torslanda plant in Sweden. Replacing the highly successful existing XC60, a model that represents around 30% of Volvo's total global sales, the new XC60 is the fourth model based on Volvo’s in-house-developed SPA vehicle architecture.
The new XC60 is considered by Volvo to be one of the safest cars ever made, loaded as it is with new technology such as Steer Assist as an addition to the ground-breaking City Safety system, the optional Pilot Assist - Volvo’s advanced semi-autonomous driver-assistance system - and the innovative Oncoming Lane Mitigation which uses Steer Assist to help avoid head-on collisions. (Steer Assist is also used as part of Volvo’s Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) to help reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions.)
At the top of the powertrain range for the new XC60 we find Volvo’s award-winning T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid which delivers 407 hp and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. More information on powertrains for the new XC60 can be found here.
Inside the new XC60, the ride is as comfortable as you would expect with a Volvo, but is added to by the XC60's new CleanZone four-zone climate control system that removes harmful pollutants and particles from outside the cabin to deliver fresh air on the inside, and by Volvo Cars’ driver infotainment and connected services offer, Sensus, and the Volvo On Call app; both with improved usability and smartphone integration with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
