With the new Kia Sportage now available to lease from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, the news that the Sportage has entered the Top Ten UK best-sellers will come as no surprise to customers of the Korean manufacturer's SUV.
In its first month on sale, the new Kia Sportage model had 1,521 vehicles delivered to customers and dealers with a huge demand for March deliveries in the pipeline. In fact, more than 5,000 customer orders have been placed since the latest generation of Kia’s stand-out compact SUV, contributing to Kia achieving a February UK market share of 3.46% and an overall sales figure of 7,955 in the first two months of 2016.
Paul Philpott, President and Chief Executive of Kia Motors (UK) Limited commented: "We have been delighted at the customer response to the all-new Sportage. We knew it was a handsome, modern and high-quality product and clearly both existing Sportage-owners and customers new to the brand agree with us.
"Our dealers have been swamped by demand for the car with the high-specification trim versions being particularly popular. It is remarkable that Sportage has entered the UK’s Top Ten as the new car has enjoyed its first month on sale and I am confident that we shall see its performance maintained throughout 2016," he added.
There are 18 different variants of the fourth-generation of Kia's best-selling model in the UK on offer including, for the first time ever, GT-Line versions that add an even more sporty flourish to the range.
New and updated with major advances in fuel efficiency, comfort, connectivity, convenience, design and safety, the new Kia Sportage has four engines and three transmissions available, including the introduction of a 1.6-litre T-GDi (turbocharged gasoline direct injection) unit and a 7DCT (seven-speed dual-clutch automatic) gearbox amongst a choice of petrol and diesel engines.
All versions of the Kia Sportage except the entry-level grade have a 7" or 8" touch-screen satellite navigation system linked to Kia Connected Services with TomTom®, complete with full European mapping and detailed traffic, speed camera, weather and local services information, along with Speed Limit Information, Lane Keep Assist, High Beam Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert available according to trim level chosen.
