Lexus’s most powerful production V8 coupe yet, the RC F, is getting itself ready for its transformation motor show catwalk star to on-road eye candy. With order books open, the arrival of the Lexus RC F in the UK in early January is sure to be a late Christmas present that customers will be looking forward to.

With Lexus claiming that the new car opens up “a new era of genuine Lexus high-performance engineering”, on looks alone the RC F already had people salivating when it was revealed at the Detroit motor show in January – and now it is ready and prepared to build on its attention-grabbing, contemporary Lexus styling by showing off its thoroughbred performance, excellent equipment, quality build and advanced new technologies.

When the RC F launches in the UK, there will be two versions available - the RC F and the RC F Carbon – both of which are equipped with the same new 5.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine that is the most powerful Lexus has yet created for a production car. It was specially created and developed for the RC F so that it can be matched to a specially calibrated eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission that the car possesses, set to deliver more than 450bhp and 520Nm.

If you need any more proof that the Lexus RC F is an authentic high-performance machine then that is delivered by the fact that Lexus have fitted Brembo brakes, Sachs monotube shock absorbers, an active rear wing, Lexus’s Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system and 19-inch forged alloy wheels all as standard.

When it comes to the RC F Carbon there’s even more to enjoy with a torque-vectoring differential (a world-first in a front engine/rear-wheel drive car) and a CFRP (carbon fibre-reinforced plastic) roof, bonnet and rear spoiler to show off with as the driver chooses between the three operating modes from everyday driving to track performance. In fact, the SFRP isn’t just there for cosmetic beauty but to help keep the car weight down as it is the material that Lexus use on its LFA supercar!

Taking the excellent performance out of the equation and the Lexus LC F is still a desirable addition to your life with a comprehensive array of comfort, safety and advanced technology features that you would expect from Lexus. We are talking LED headlights (high and low beam) with automatic high beam function; a 10-speaker multimedia system including DAB, DVD player, a new Remote Touch touchpad control and Lexus Premium Navigation; dual-zone climate control; Drive Mode Select; eight airbags, a reversing camera, Hill Assist Control, Lane Departure and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a blind spot monitor and VDIM co-ordinating the performance of the ABS, brake assist, traction control vehicle stability control and electronic brakeforce distribution.

Add into the mix front and rear parking sensors, electric, auto-dimming, folding and heated door mirrors; cruise control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, electric steering column adjustment and keyless Smart Entry and I would say that that is a pretty comprehensive set of standards as a base to add on to – if you need to!.

There’s comfort in the interior too with high-grade leather upholstery and electrically adjustable front seats (all themed with the ‘Lexus F’ detail, along with the steering wheel, pedals, trim and seat design, plus heating and ventilation functions. The RC F Carbon upgrades to 19-inch forged alloy wheels, Alcantara upholstery and a Mark Levinson Surround Sound system as standard.

Both cars have an option for Adaptive Cruise Control with a Pre-Crash Safety system.

The Lexus LC F. You’ll think Christmas has come really early – or just a little bit late!
