Mercedes has recently revealed the much-anticipated successor to the popular C-Class. Seen as a significant improvement to historic line, let’s take a look and see what they accomplished.

According to Mercedes, the 2014 C-Class has gone through a revolutionary transformation both inside and out, offering consumers an unprecedented ride. On the outside, those with a sharp eye will notice a more striking and dynamic design. The minimalist expression is seen along the elongated the bonnet as well as the passenger compartment, offering a sleeker surface. Even the wheels were made to emphasize the stylish sporty character, making the new model stand out.

This attention to detail is carried forward inside the car where Mercedes has chosen high-class materials to craft its vision. The driver and passengers enjoy more space, providing them a feel-good atmosphere akin to “uplifting feeling of being upgraded from economy to business class.” It embodies the new design idiom which combines sensuousness and clarity to create a new quality of feel, setting itself apart from other vehicles in its field.

Of course, it would not be a proper C-Class without a powerful engine, and this new upgrade certainly delivers. The vehicle comes with petrol and diesel engines that are all equipped with ECO start/stop function and meet Euro 6 emission standards. The C180 model will come with a 156mph petrol engine that can race from 0 to 60mph in a mere 8.2 seconds. Similarly, the C200 will come with a 184bhp petrol engine that goes from 0 to 62 in 7.5 seconds. However, where this car shines in the C220 BlueTec diesel which produces some 170bhp, races from 0 to 62mph in 8.1 seconds, but only does so producing 103Co2 (g/km).

Prof. Dr Thomas Weber, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, recently said : "Mercedes at its best - that's the new C-Class, which sets new standards for the mid-range segment on many fronts. It is characterized by an emotional yet clear design which is continued in the high-quality and modern interior. Its efficient and high-performance engineering provides the basis for a high standard of driving enjoyment."

With so much to offer, it is unsurprising that the car is getting so much attention. Those interested in learning more about this car will have to wait until the Detroit Auto Show next month where we’ll all get a much closer look at what it can do.  But in the mean time, here are a few pictures of this incredible car for all of you to enjoy.
