Volkswagen has made its most potent Tiguan yet available for leasing this January from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, with orders being taken now for a car with more power on tap than even the current iteration of the iconic Golf GTI.
Because behind the new Tiguan - or should that be 'in front of'- is a new 240 PS bi-turbo diesel, designated BiTDI engine with a 30 PS increase over the previous most powerful Tiguan, the 2.0 TSI. Like the engine currenty resting under the bonnet of both the Volkswagen Passat and Passat Alltrack, the bi-turbo 240 PS engine boasts a high-performance cylinder head, two-stage turbo charger, and a common-rail piezo injection system with an injection pressure of 2,500 bar, helping the engine to generate up to 120 PS per litre.
As standard, the engine sits united with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION four-wheel drive system, allowing the new Tiguan to reach a 142 mph top speed (where legal),and to sprint from rest to 62 mph in just 6.5 seconds.
Co2 emissions in the new SUV are reduced thanks to Selective Catalytic Reduction which injects AdBlue™ into the Tiguan’s exhaust system, converting NOx into harmless water, aided and abetted by a Start/Stop system and battery regeneration to realise a CO2 figure of just 167 g/km while meeting the latest EU6 emissions standard.
As well as the 240 PS bi-turbo engine, a more powerful engine is also available in the shape of the 2.0 TSI 180 PS with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmission as well as 4MOTION four-wheel drive. This engine can achieve a top speed 129 mph, 0-62 mph time of 7.7 seconds and a CO2 figure of 170 g/km.
Both new Tiguan engines are exclusively offered with the range-topping SEL or R-Line trims. on the new Tiguan.
The SEL Line offers some excellent technology as standard, including:
Volkswagen’s Discover Navigation infotainment and satellite navigation system with an 8" colour touchscreen
Adaptive Cruise Control
Active Info Display featuring a 12.3" high-resolution TFT screen within the binnacle
The Tiguan R-Line takes all the SEL features, wraps them up as standard and adds in some unique styling features both inside and out that include:
A roof spoiler
A rear diffuser
A front air intake
20" ‘Suzuka’ alloy wheels measure 20-inches
A unique bumper design
Unique R-Line sill protectors and carpet mats
Bespoke ‘Race’ cloth seats with ‘San Remo’ microfibre
