Nationwide Vehicle Contracts has donated £500 to FareShare Greater Manchester, supporting the charity’s work to tackle food poverty and reduce food waste across the region.
This donation is the latest support as part of Nationwide Vehicle Contracts’ Community commitment to support local businesses and charities, the people behind those organisations, and the impact being made locally.
FareShare is the UK’s leading food redistribution charity. The charity works to make sure good food is not wasted and reaches people who need it most.
FareShare Greater Manchester was established in October 2008. Its focus is reducing food waste and supporting people facing food poverty in and around Greater Manchester.
The charity currently redistributes food to more than 280 charitable organisations and community groups. These include:
- Community centres
- Homeless shelters
- Children’s breakfast clubs and after-school clubs
Through this network, FareShare Greater Manchester helps provide food to more than 30,000 people.

FareShare Greater Manchester is powered by volunteers. The charity currently has 128 volunteers on site who help pick and pack orders and deliver surplus food across Greater Manchester and East Cheshire.
Volunteers come from all walks of life. The charity also supports them with training opportunities and employability support.
“We're thrilled to give our £500 charity donation to FareShare Greater Manchester. This amazing charity tackles two big problems: food poverty and food waste. They're run by dedicated volunteers who share our corporate goals of supporting the community, contributing to charitable causes, and creating positive social impact. Our donation is a small step towards a future where everyone's basic food needs are met and where no food goes to waste.”

Nationwide Vehicle Contracts supports initiatives that create clear local impact. This donation will help FareShare Greater Manchester continue to move surplus food to the groups that need it, quickly and safely.
