Renault’s award-winning and hot-selling new Twingo city car range has a new addition with the arrival of a new top-of-the-range model; the Dynamique S TCe 90.
This really is a top-of-the-range car that adds in the previously optional ‘Sport Pack’ of other Twingo models that includes changes to both the exterior styling and the interior trim - but this time as standard - and also features the 90 hp 0.9-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engine that was fitted to its predecessor at the top of the Twingo tree; the Dynamique TCe 90.
Other standard features that you find on this new Twingo Dynamique S include an aluminium pedal set, red/black part leather upholstery, 16" sport diamond-cut alloy wheels, matt black side decals, a red exterior touch pack (with white as a no-cost option) and a red interior touch pack that adds in some stylish finishing touches to the steering wheel, centre console and air vents, while the exterior touch pack does the same for the front grille insert, door mirrors and side door protectors.
If we are in "let's list what the Twingo Dynamique S has" mode, we can bring in the LED daytime running lights, front foglamps, electric heated door mirrors, cruise control, lane departure warning system, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift knob, air conditioning, electric power steering, electric front windows, trip computer and gear change indicator, lane-change indicators function for the indicators, automatic activation of the rear screen wiper when reverse gear is selected, and white instrument backlighting to the mix.
And that's before we mention the unique-in-segment folding front passenger seat and split-folding two-seat rear bench that you get with every Twingo, and the safety equipment that includes Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Brake Assist and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
The 0.9-litre TCe turbocharged engine is perfectly designed to accommodate and enhance the Twingo requirements by developing 90 hp at 5,500 rpm and 135 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm – sufficient for 0-62 mph acceleration in 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 103 mph. But efficiency hasn't been sacrificed in the search for performance with the use of Stop & Start Technology (again as standard) which helps achievement of the fuel efficiency figure of 65.7 mpg – and more than 50 mpg when in use in the city - with CO2 emissions of just 99 g/km - enough to put the car into the VED Band A for free Road Fund Licence.
Drivers can also increase fuel economy by up to 10% by using the gearshift indicator to its full potential, the Renault Driving eco2 feature that is incorporated within the R & GO®or R-Link connectivity systems and the in-built ECO switch, which alters the throttle mapping and air conditioning power.
Speedsters will also be pleased to see that the Dynamique S also has Variable Gear Ratio steering as standard, which gives a much firmer feel to the leather-rimmed wheel when positioned in the straight-ahead position and also makes sure that there is a higher steering ratio when the car starts to turn. All-in-all we are talking some particularly effortless manoeuvrability in congested cities with great precision when changing direction on open roads.
The Twingo Dynamique S is available in Crystal White, Diamond Black or Flame Red paint colours, with first deliveries expected in April 2015.
