The 2017 model year Renault ZOE was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year, showing off its new Z.E.40 battery that enables the latest ZOE to boast a 250 mile (NEDC) range. And, on top of that exciting bombshell, Renault have also added a new top-of-the-range Signature Nav trim level to their 2017 ZOE model line-up.
This 250 mile (NEDC) range means that the new ZOE offers the best range of any mainstream electric vehicle, and in the real world of on-the-road driving, Renault estimates that, in temperate conditions, "a Renault ZOE fitted with the new Z.E.40 battery has a real-world range of between 186 miles and 124 miles in extreme cold conditions."
Not all ZOE models come with the new Z.E.40 battery. The existing 22kW battery still exists in the entry level Expression version, while the Dynamique Nav and above have the new Z.E.40 battery as an option, enabling customers to fit their requirements to the ZOE of their choice.
The Z.E.40 battery is available with an optional Quick Charge facility that reduces charging times even further, with an additional option of a fully-installed 7kW fast-charging box for convenient home charging also available.
The Range
The updated Renault ZOE line-up now consists of three levels - Expression, Dynamique Nav and the new top-of-the-range Signature Nav - over 5 versions: Expression Nav R90 kW, Dynamique Nav R90 Z.E.40, Dynamique Nav Q90 Z.E.40, Signature Nav R90 Z.E.40, and Signature Nav Q90 Z.E.40.
The Expression trim level already has a comprehensive specification that includes:

- Climate control
- Electric windows
- Electric heated mirrors
- Cruise control
- Speed limiter
- Keycard
- Bluetooth connectivity
- ESC with traction and understeer control
- Renault Z.E. Connect App (allowing drivers to remotely monitor battery levels and charging status via their smartphone or computer)
- Hill Start Assist
- Front and side driver and passenger airbags
On top of all this, all ZOEs contain Renault’s Range OptimiZer technology that includes heat pump, bi-modal braking system and Michelin ENERGY E-V tyres - all working together to ensure the very highest car efficiency alongside ZOE’s Chameleon Charger™ that "ensures that ZOE adapts and always charges from a source at the highest rate possible, thus lowering charge times."
The ZOE Expression comes with the R90 22kW battery that enables a range of 149 miles (NEDC) and a charging time of 3 to 4 hours (0 to 80% full).
The ZOE Dynamique Nav adds into the Expression equation with some extra specification that includes:
- Hands free keycard
- Automatic lights and wipers
- Rear parking sensors
- Rear electric windows
- Electrically operated, heated and folding door mirrors
- 16" ‘Black Shadow’ alloy wheels
- Leather steering wheel and gear lever

The new ZOE Signature Nav trim level sits proudly at the top of the range and features, alongside so much more:
- Supple leather upholstery
- Heated front seats
- Seven speaker BOSE® audio system
- Rear parking camera
- 16" ‘Grey Shadow’ alloy wheels
- Driver’s seat lumbar adjustment.
2017 also brings with it three new colours for the Renault ZOE – Mars Red, Titanium Grey and Ytrium Grey (available on Signature Nav only) to complement last year's addition of Zircon Blue metallic - meaning that the Renault logo and badging has changed to chrome to accommodate this new colour selection.
All Renault ZOEs accelerate from 0-62mph in around 13.5 seconds to a top speed of 84mph, with charging times ranging from 60 to 100 minutes to 80% full at a 43kW chargepoint (depending on model and battery), and 4 to 8.5 hours 100% using a 7kW charger at home.
All leasing prices on the Renault ZOE from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts include any battery purchase charge, with this notated by the trim level names: iExpression, iDynamique Nav and iSignature Nav.
