The all-new Mazda CX-3 on the road

It's been a bit of a wait for those with their fingers on the pulse of exciting new model releases, but the anticipation that has built over the arrival of the all-new Mazda CX-3 is certainly matched by the car itself - in all of its' 18 variants, all of which will be available to lease from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts!

With a choice of 11 petrol and seven diesel variants and a five level grade structure – SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav - the old adage that there is 'something available for everyone's tastes' is never much truer than when you take a look at Mazda's newest little baby. From the moment that the car made its European debut at last year's Geneva Motor Show, Mazda’s first small SUV has promised to "take the compact SUV sector by storm" with new levels of sophistication, style, driving pleasure and equipment (including Mazda’s unique SKYACTIV technology) combining with the standards defined by 'KODO: Soul of Motion design language' to not only excite but deliver too.

The CX-3 Look

The all-new Mazda CX-3 available in red, silver and other coloursWe will be detailing exact 'grade' differences further down the page, but there are certain specification standards that need to be pointed out as they are pretty exceptional - but what is there to build all this excitement on as a base?

Mazda lovers will be pleased to see that the signature ‘wing’ front grille, sharp KODO design lines and headlamp styling that point out that the car is undeniably a Mazda are still there, along with the a-pillars and coupe-like profile that give the CX-3 its sporty on-road look are still there. But this new CX-3 has a ride height 50mm higher than the all-new Mazda2, giving the car the more commanding view of the road that drivers of SUVs have come to love.

High points for certain models see SE models boasting 16" alloy wheels along with heated and power folding mirrors, while drivers of the new SE-L models can enjoy rear privacy glass and front LED fog lights. And right at the top of the range, the all-new Mazda CX-3 Sport Nav is the first car in the class to come with LED headlights along with signature LED rear lights, 18" Gun-metallic diamond-cut alloy wheels and chrome accent door sills to deliver what only be described as a distinctive look.

Just to finish off the SUV-ness of the new Mazda CX-3, the car's spacious 350-litre boot is enhanced with a flexible cargo board boot floor, which can be lifted to provide a flat load space when the standard 60:40 split fold rear seats are folded down to add practicality to style and performance.

The CX-3 Power

The all-new Mazda CX-3 on the waters side roadAs we said before, there are 18 engine variants available (11 petrol and 7 diesel) with the all-new Mazda CX-3; all of which feature SKYACTIV technology with models available with both front-wheel drive and Mazda’s new-generation all-wheel drive system, and a choice of SKYACTIV-MT manual and SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmissions.

It is the SKYACTIV-G petrol engine that is available with 120ps or 150ps in a 2.0-litre version that Mazda believe will be the firm favourite with UK customers, with the 120ps engine with front-wheel drive predicted to shade the percentages. For all-wheel drive (AWD) lovers, at the top of the petrol range, the 150ps engine is available with AWD and a six-speed manual gearbox in the Sport Nav trim.

Completing the engine line-up is the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-litre diesel engine (that originally made its forecourt debut in the Mazda2) with front-wheel drive models making up the majority of the range, although the 105ps SKYACTIV-D Sport Nav AWD is offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.

With SKYACTIV-D, the diesel engines can achieve CO2 emissions of just 105g/km with an official combined economy of 70.6mpg, leading to comparable figures right across the Mazda CX-3 engine spectrum thanks to the SKYACTIV technology developed by Mazda ensuring an unrivalled blend of performance and efficiency.

The CX-3 Interior

The all-new Mazda CX-3 test drives on the roadInside, the all-new Mazda CX-3 features a 7" colour touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth® and a multifunction steering wheel as standard right across the board across all models, while the top-of-the-range Sport Nav cranks up the technology with navigation including 3-years free European map updates, Bose® surround sound, smart keyless entry and, for the first time in this particular sector, Mazda’s Active Driving Display head-up display system.

When it comes to safety, the all-new Mazda CX-3 doesn't scrimp at all with some particularly impressive active safety equipment to compliment the lightweight yet rigid SKYACTIV-Body and full complement of standard airbags (including curtain airbags). We are talking Hill Hold Assist, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Dynamic Stability Control as standard across the range, with SE-L and Sport Nav models featuring Mazda’s Lane Departure Warning System and Smart City Brake Support.

All models have cruise control, while rear parking sensors are standard from SE-L grade onwards, with Sport Nav models benefitting from a reversing camera.

All of this technology is couched inside some of Mazda's finest materials in the CX-3’s user-friendly cabin that Mazda claim sets "new standards in material quality and design". (For comfort lovers, the SE-L models have heated front seats, automatic climate control and rain-sensing wipers with optional Stone leather available on Sport Nav models to enhances the premium feel of Mazda's small SUV.)
