We’ve only got the first images to look at, but the all-new Volvo XC90 R-Design looks to be able to achieve the aim that Volvo are looking for: a head-turner that radiates a truly sporty and dynamic look.
And with a driver-centric cabin that features R-Design Contour sports seats in Nubuck and perforated leather, a choice of Drive-E powertrains that can achieve 400 hp and the completely new XC90 chassis, you can be assured that the agile driving experience that it offers will back up Mr Visser’s statement.
The release of the R-Design is the next step for those drivers wanting an XC90 after Volvo’s limited edition release of 1,927 individually numbered black First Edition XC90’s had sold out in 47 hours having been exclusively released online.
So we start off with all the finery, power and exclusivity of the Volvo XC90, and we add in distinctive R-Design detailing.
From the outside, this means a certain number of distinguishing details that includes changes to the grille and front spoiler, and the addition of silk metal window surround, integrated dual exhausts, integrated silver roof rails and silver matt mirror covers, along with 20” R-Design alloy wheels to complete a stylish, dynamic look.
And on the inside it means gearshift paddles, contour sports seats, perforated leather steering wheel and gearshift knob, sports pedals, floor mats, illuminated tread plates, an exclusive R-Design leather key remote control and a tablet-like touch screen.
At the heart of the new XC90 range is the Volvo XC90 R-Design Momentum with its elegant looks and luxurious interior, it also supplies comfort for those drivers who also want a sports-inspired look and feel – and for an even greater step into the XC90 zone, there is the even more luxurious and even more equipped Inscription model.
“In principle, we have replaced the previous top level with the Inscription and R-Design versions. Both of them feature an elevated content, carefully chosen to emphasise each of their distinctive individual personalities,” said Alain Visser.
