The Volkswagen Beetle is renowned as an automotive style icon with one of the most well-known silhouettes of any modern car, and at Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, we have 18 different models available to lease. This will now be added to with the UK showroom debut of the exciting new Beetle Dune, with June deliveries.
Combining that classic VW Beetle style with an off-road ruggedness developed in west coast America with 'Baja Bugs', the Beetle Dune is designed to offer a vibrant new dimension to the existing Beetle line-up with a bigger by 10mm height, 18" ‘Mythos’ alloy wheels, front and rear wheel arch extensions and bold new bumper designs.
Anyone considering a new Beetle Dune can choose between a Coupe or Cabriolet version in a selection of five body colours (Sandstorm Yellow metallic, Dark Bronze metallic, Deep Black pearlescent, non-metallic Black, and non-metallic Pure White) all of which complement the car’s eye-catching styling. Parts of the dashboard and door panels also share the exterior body colour.
The new car has been designed to stand out from the crowd, emphasised by a large silver-framed central air inlet, black honeycomb grille, black wheel well and body extensions, black side trim strips, stylised ‘Beetle running boards’, a large rear spoiler, new LED lights and exclusive ‘Dune’ badging - the result of which is a dynamic external look to the new Beetle.
Inside, the new look is continued with an extensive use of contrast ‘Turmeric’ stitching on the sport seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel and parking brake grip along with black finishing on contrasting areas of the seat system, door trim panels, roof pillars and headlining. A multifunction leather steering wheel with decorative 'Dune' insert and contrast 'Tumeric' stitching, leather-clad handbrake with contrast stitching and carpet mats front and rear with 'Tumeric' contrast stitching continue the bespoke look.
When it comes to equipment, the new Beetle Dune is based on the existing Beetle’s Design trim level which means a comprehensive selection of technology, safety feaures, and creature comforts as standard, including:
- A Composition Media system that includes a 6.5" touch-screen with Bluetooth telephone connection, DAB digital radio receiver, dash-mounted single CD player, MDI (Multi Device Interface) via USB connection, SMS messaging functionality and eight speakers.
- A Light and Sight pack that is made up of an auto dimming rear-view mirror, automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers
- Ultrasonic parking sensors front and rear.
- 'Climatic’ semi-automatic air conditioning
- ABS (Anti-lock Braking System)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Rollover Protection (on the Beetle Dune Cabriolet)
- Isofix child seat preparation for two rear child seats
- Tyre pressure loss indicator
- A comprehensive suite of airbags.
When it comes to power and engines, there is a choice of two, with the 1.2-litre 105PS petrol TSI available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 11.3 seconds, and the 150PS 2.0-litre TDI with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed auto DSG gearboxes reaching 62mph, in the hatch version, in just 9.2 seconds. Top speeds vary from 110 mph for the petrol manual to 124 mph for the diesel manual.
When it comes to fuel economy and Co2 emissions, Volkswagen haven't compromised with the new Beetle Dune. The 1.2 TSI manual offers up to 51.4 mpg (combined) in fuel economy with the 2.0 TDI manual achieving 62.8 mpg (combined), while CO2 emissions range from 117 g/km to 127 g/km depending on engine and gearbox choice.
With both engines and all gearbox options available in both Coupe and cabriolet models, the Beetle Dune production version of concept car originally presented at the Detroit Motor Show back in 2014 is likely to be a big hit with the British customers in the know; so grab your chance now and contact one of our Customer Advisors now to register your interest in the new Volkswagen Beetle Dune.
