The car itself is great. However, we have had a lot of problems with the software (particularly when there is an update). We have had to take it to a dealer twice to try to sort this out but they can't sort it out. I think that this is a known problem for Volkswagen but they don't seem to be able to sort it out. this has resulted in a loss of confidence in the car and we are now nervous about undertaking long journeys in it (which wasn't the case when we first got it).

Only real issue with the ID3 is the infotainment system is a bit cranky and annoying to use. Poor screen layout, seems to link to devices even when you don’t want to etc.

Great car, shame about the software updates and its had a battery failure so I was without it for six weeks and had a petrol car as a replacement at that time, all fixed and good now. Would not go back to a petrol or diesel car again.

The VW ID 3 is spacious and practical. It is also comfortable, easy to drive and economical. The only downside I would say is that the controls for the heating, apple carplay and hazard lights and all controls in general, are fiddly and not intuitive. It is for this reason I will not hire these line of vehicles again if the controls aren't addressed.
