Audi Q2 Review 2021

The Q2 may be Audi’s smallest SUV, but it’s also the best-selling. Its compact dimensions, high build quality and desirable badge make it a popular choice against fellow on-road rivals such as the BMW X2 and Mercedes GLA.

Our Audi Q2 review covers:

Audi Q2 Key Features

  • Updated exterior style with LED headlights as standard
  • High-quality interior with soft-touch materials
  • Five powerful engines including three petrol engines and two diesels
  • 405-litre boot with 60/40 split-folding rear seats standard
  • Five trim levels including the Technik, Sport, S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung

Design and Practicality

Thanks to several exterior updates over the years, the latest generation Q2 certainly looks the part with a sharper-looking body kit, more aggressive grille and LED headlights, all helping make the Q2 stand out on the road.

Audi Q2 exterior

For a small SUV, the Q2 is also surprisingly practical with plenty of head and legroom at the front and rear and clever interior storage options, including a decent-sized glovebox, large door bins and a couple of cupholders.

At 405-litres (rising to 1,050 litres with the rear seats folded), the Q2’s boot is marginally bigger than the A3 Sportback, with room enough for six carry-on-sized suitcases or a folded pram. 60/40 split-folding rear seats are offered as standard, but you can opt for a 40/20/40 split for easy through loading of longer items

Interior and Trims

Inside, the car borrows heavily from the A3, with a simple dashboard layout, eyeball air vents and an intuitive infotainment system. Build quality is on a par with the Mini Countryman, with its soft-touch materials and posh-feeling buttons. You can also personalise your Q2 with several interior trim combinations.

Five trim levels are available, including the Technik, Sport, S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. The entry-level Technik model comes with cruise control, LED headlights, an electric tailgate and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The mid-spec Sport models come with Audi Connect, MMI navigation, an upgraded interior trim, sport seats and 17-inch alloy wheels. S Line adds an S line 3-spoke leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel, S line exterior styling pack and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The high-spec Black Edition models come with a gloss black exterior pack, privacy glass and 19-inch black alloys. The top-of-the-range Vorsprung models get Audi’s adjustable adaptive suspension package, Matrix headlamps, adaptive cruise control, park assist, and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Power and Performance

Under the bonnet, five engines are available, including three petrol engines and two diesels. If you tend to drive in and around town, the petrol engines are the best fit and are available in 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0-litre form with 109bhp, 148bhp and 187bhp, respectively.

If you drive long distances or regularly on the motorway, a diesel engine would be best. These are available in 1.6 and 2.0-litre form, producing 114bhp and 148bhp, respectively. All models expect the 2.0 units get a six-speed manual transmission as standard, but an optional seven-speed S Tronic twin-clutch automatic is available on four-wheel-drive models or at an additional cost.

In terms of ride, the Q2 offers a relatively firm suspension with plenty of grip through corners.

Leasing vs Buying

Prices for the new Audi Q2 start from £27,135.00 OTR* or to lease from £326.39 per month.

Thinking of leasing the Audi Q2? Car leasing offers many benefits over buying, including fixed monthly rentals, a low initial outlay and inclusive road tax and breakdown cover. Nationwide Vehicle Contracts will also deliver your vehicle to your door, provided your address is on the GB mainland.

*'On the road' price correct at time of publication and typically includes one year’s road fund license, DVLA first registration fee and number plate fee. Always check with the manufacturer.

I think it's overpriced for what it is. Compared to my previous vehicle, which was cheaper and had more storage and space in the vehicle, I'm disappointed with my choice

The Audi Q2 rattles near the back seat/boot. Sounds more like a 10 year old second hand vehicle.

Limited boot storage. Slow and clunky in low gears - seems like a Diesel of old. But comfortable ride when get beyond 2nd gear.
