Design, Practicality and Boot Space
Thanks to its fun-to-drive dynamics and sporty coupe shape, the latest third-generation Audi TT Coupe is still a popular choice in the competitive small sports car sector. The TT Coupe's rounded wheel arches, curved windscreen pillars and a sloping tailgate all come together to give the latest TT Coupe its unique chiselled design.
Inside, however, there is not much room, with the back seats only really suitable for small children on very short journeys. The TT Coupe's sloped boot lid also means headroom and legroom are tight, so anyone sitting in the back may feel a little cramped.
As expected with a small sports car, boot space in the TT Coupe isn't very generous. With 305 litres of space, the TT Coupe offers more room than the Mazda MX-5's 130 litres, but it doesn't match the BMW 2 Series' 390 litres. The boot space increases to 712 litres if you lower the rear seats, and the big hatchback opening means access to the boot is easy.
Interior and Trims
Inside, the Audi TT Coupe's interior is excellent, with high-quality plush materials used throughout and great features such as Audi's Virtual Cockpit display and cruise control, as standard.
Five trim levels models are available, including the entry-level Sport model, which comes with leather and Alcantara seats, a stunning 12.3-inch digital display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring system and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Sport Edition has similar features as the Sport model but adds rear parking sensors and Xenon variety headlights, not LED.
S Line models come with larger sportier bumpers, S Line badges, imprinted leather and Alcantara seats, adjustable lumbar support, brushed aluminium interior trim, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Black Edition version is based on S Line models but adds tinted windows, black door mirrors, exterior trim, and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen stereo.
The range-topping Vorsprung model has Matrix LED headlights, Nappa leather sports seats, reversing camera and wireless phone charging. You also get a digital driver's display with a built-in sat-nav, 680-watt Bang & Olufsen stereo with 12 speakers and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Power and Performance
Under the bonnet, the TT Coupe is available with a choice of two petrol 2.0-litre TFSI engines, including the 40 TFSI S TRONIC engine and the 45 TFSI S TRONIC with Quattro all-wheel drive.
At 197hp, the 40 TFSI S TRONIC engine is slower than the 45 engine but is cheaper on fuel. In contrast, the 245hp 45 TFSI S TRONIC offers plenty of power but is very thirsty and expensive to fuel regularly.
On the road, the Audi TT Coupe feels excellent to drive. Small and lightweight, it is very nimble in tight country lanes and punchy when you press the accelerator.
The TT Coupe isn't as fast as the range-topping BMW 2 Series six-cylinder engine. However, unlike the BMW, the TT Coupe has the option of the four-wheel-drive Quattro. This gives you a bit more confidence when driving in slippery conditions on unfamiliar roads.
Leasing vs Buying
Prices for the Audi TT Coupe start from £33,540.00 OTR* or to lease from £347.75 per month.
