AC car charging is the ideal option for a home charging system, as it is a cost-effective route for many EV owners. Not only is it convenient, but it is also one of the most reliable sources of charging for an electric car. AC EV charger speeds depend on the output power of the charge point as well as the capabilities of the converter to change the power to DC.
The AC car charging method is most suitable for your home as the car will be stationary for longer periods of time and you’ll be able to charge your electric car fully. This can be done overnight to avoid peak electricity tariffs and reliance on the grid. If you need an option with a shorter charge time or require rapid charging, you may need to purchase a DC charging device.
Project EV’s standard installation package for an electric vehicle home charge point covers the majority of homes in the UK and includes the following:
Sometimes issues arise on the day that could mean Project EV cannot complete your installation on the first visit, but if they know about these in advance, they can often resolve them beforehand.
Some conditions and limitations that you need to know:
If you have purchased a freestanding mount for the Project EV to be fitted on, please be aware that there may be an additional cost for installing this.
Project EV follows Standard Regulations and guidelines on Electric Vehicle installations. They can only complete the job if the electrical capacity (i.e. main fuse) can support the additional electrical demands of the installation. If the existing electrical arrangements at the property are not in line with these rules or there is something else that makes it unsafe for the installation to take place, then a separate quote will be supplied for the additional work needed to meet the required standards.
Installation within 7 days, assuming customer returns the necessary documents
Project EV will allocate two hours for standard installations. If they can’t complete on the day because of supply related problems or unexpected extra works then we will reschedule an installation date once the additional works are complete or our quotation for the work has been accepted.
The owner/customer or a responsible adult of the age of 18 years or over needs to be present on-site for the entire duration of the install.
If your Project EV Expert suspects that the installation will not comply with the OLEV grant requirements (see OLEV terms and conditions above), your installation will be paused. Should Project EV receive approval to proceed, a new installation date will be given, please allow up to 10 working days for a new installation date.
Project EV home charge points are covered by a comprehensive five year warranty. Any hardware failure should be promptly reported to Project EV. Please quote the serial number, the date of installation and a brief description of the fault. The Project EV technical team will carry out an assessment and will contact you to get further details and if necessary, arrange a service visit. The warranty will be void if the Project EV unit is opened, modified, tampered with or a repair is attempted by anyone other than a Project EV appointed electrician.
