The KGM Korando E-Motion is an electric SUV that offers a viable alternative to some of Europe's most established electric SUVs. With a spacious interior and loads of equipment as standard, it's an impressive family car.
Rivals to the Korando E-Motion include the Peugeot e-2008, Hyundai Kona Electric, MG ZS EV, and Kia Niro EV.
Our KGM Korando E-Motion review covers:
There are some pretty tame-looking crossover SUVs on the market, but you'll be happy to hear the Korando E-Motion doesn't fit into this category. It looks modern and bold, with an aggressive front grille and smooth lines from front to back. I particularly like the area surrounding the badge at the front; it leads into the headlights and looks superb.
The Korando E-Motion is quite a large car, and because of this, there's plenty of interior space. There's enough room for the whole family to get comfortable, regardless of whether you're in the front or rear.
Open the boot, and you'll get 551 litres of space, which is exactly the same as the petrol-powered Korando. This means it's larger than most other crossover SUVs, and you'll also get an adjustable boot floor that can store your charging cables.
Climb inside the Korando E-Motion, and you'll be greeted by a pleasant interior fit for the hustle and bustle of family life. There's a blend of premium and affordable materials, but it slightly flatters to deceive. It falls short of some of the more premium manufacturers in the sector.
For technology, you'll get a 12.3-inch digital cluster behind the steering wheel and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard, the latter of which comes with navigation and smartphone mirroring. The graphics displayed on both screens are slick; however, the infotainment system can be a bit slow sometimes.
Three trim levels are available: ELX, Ventura, and Ultimate.
ELX comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, smartphone mirroring, a rear view camera, and adaptive cruise control.
Ventura has heated front seats, navigation, and rear parking sensors.
Ultimate adds heated front and rear seats, a power tailgate, front and rear parking sensors, and privacy glass.
The Korando E-Motion is powered by a 61.5kWh battery paired with a 188bhp electric motor to power the front wheels. Its range is up to 210 miles, which falls short of most of its rivals, such as the Hyundai Kona Electric and Renault Megane E-Tech.
In terms of charging, using a 7kW home charger will take around 11 hours. Rapid charging is available up to 100kW DC, which tops up the battery from 20% to 80% in around half an hour.
On the road, the Korando E-Motion is a pretty straightforward drive. There's enough oomph from the electric motor to ensure you'll be nipping around the city, and it's also comfortable on the motorway.
You can tell KGM has gone the extra mile to ensure it's a pleasant drive. There's little noise and vibrations when at cruising speed, and the cabin is eerily quiet. I'd recommend preparing a good playlist for a long-haul journey.
There are also three driving modes available. In the lowest setting, the Korando E-Motion continues rolling when you take your foot off the gas (or should I say electricity).
