Very unreliable charging- Vehicle doesn’t charge automatically with Octopus smart charging. I have to wake up at night and start and stop charging a couple of times from the MG app before the vehicle starts charging properly. That has been a major draw back. I have raised this issue several times with vehicle manufacturer, dealer and octopus customer service representatives and none of them could fix the issue. Mileage is poor and not anywhere near manufacturer claims. On the positive note, the vehicle drives well and running cost is low.

Only issue with this car is the infotainment system. It’s slow and temperamental

The MG4 XPower is an excellent all rounder. Good in all areas (space, comfort, range etc), but excels in 2 key areas. 1) Power. It is super quick and fun. Handles pretty and very enjoyable to drive. 2) Value. For the price it can’t be beaten. It ticks every box and more. Overall, as a first entry to the EV world it has been excellent. My only criticism is the poor infotainment and software. Especially the safety features, which can be turned off (EVERY TIME YOU GET IN).

The drive is superb, the power is extravagant, pulling and stopping is superb. Ride is a bit crunchy on less than perfect surfaces but on new good quality roads it’s really a sublime drive. The in car technology is appalling, poorly thought out and poorly executed, the software really does leave a lot to be desired, charging is linked to how the car was secured and a specific routine needs to be followed. The head lights have a massive black patch, only noticeable on unlit road with main beam on, is obviously an oversight from not testing properly and it’s hugely distracting. Electric seats without memory functions are worse than manual seats. Good boot space, nicely trimmed interior, hvac is poorly designed and blows hot and cold all over the place, windscreen defrost quickly and remains most free which is nice. The gear selector is a joke, is a dial underneath the stereo so it looks like a volume control. It’s clunky and awkward to select gears in a hurry since it’s not the same motion you get from a stick. The in car entertainment shows silly things in the home page like two huge buttons for CarPlay and the android one, why? Just show it when it’s connected or not at all. The heater controls are three layers down when in CarPlay, really annoying. It’s so so powerful and the handling is simply lovely so I forgive all these things, but if it was slow I’d hate it.

I don't like that you have to set up bluetooth every time you go on a new journey. The seat positioning does not make for a very comfortable back position and you feel that your spine is quite curved and as taller people with long legs the seat needs to be longer/have an extendable section. The ride is very bouncy from the passenger position. However it can be fun to drive and the acceleration is excellent.
