Performance breakdown

The 2026 X-Trail is powered exclusively by Nissan's e-POWER technology, a petrol engine that charges the battery, driving an electric motor that turns the wheels. Power output runs to 204PS in two-wheel drive form, or 213PS with the optional e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system, with the latter hitting 62mph in 7.0 seconds.

Interior and exterior design

A wider V-motion grille, new full-LED taillights, and diamond-cut 20-inch alloys give the 2026 X-Trail a more assertive presence on the road. Inside, you'll find chestnut brown premium quilted leather, a wood-effect console trim, three-zone air conditioning, and heated front and rear seats. 

Practical applications

The X-Trail remains one of the most practical SUVs in its class. A 585-litre boot, sliding 40/20/40 second-row seating, and flexible cabin storage make it equally capable of the school run or a weekend away. 

Technology overview

The 2026 X-Trail introduces Google built-in for the first time, giving drivers access to Google Assistant, Play Store apps, and over-the-air updates via the 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The updated 3D Around View Monitor adds eight camera angles, an invisible hood view, and a T-Junction view, while enhanced ProPILOT assist delivers smoother driving.

The X-Trail is available in four trims: Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, N-Trek and Tekna.

It’s a solid built car, easy to drive given its size. Plenty of room inside and decent boot. I have the e4orce version with 7 seats.

The seats are very uncomfortable, and the ergonomics poor, push button controls are difficult to see and should be permanently and better illuminated.fuel consumption is disappointing on anything but short journeys. The battery capacity should be larger. Choice of exterior colour is important on this vehicle. If performance is important to you, this car will not disappoint.
