Peugeot 508 SW Review 2022

The Peugeot 508 SW is a high-end estate with a striking design that offers the comfort of a grand tourer, the spaciousness of an SW and the sportiness of a coupe.

Rivals to the Peugeot 508 SW include the Volkswagen Passat Estate, Audi A4 Avant and Skoda Superb Estate

Our Peugeot 508 SW review covers:

Peugeot 508 SW Key Features

  • Sharp and sleek style with dark chrome chequered grille
  • Minimalist interior with high-mounted digital driver's display and Peugeot i-Cockpit
  • 530-litre boot, which expands to 1,780 litres with the rear seats folded
  • Available with petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid engines
  • Four trim levels, including Active Premium, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium

Design, Practicality and Boot Space

The Peugeot 508 SW has a sharp and rugged design with its sleek lines and dark chrome chequered grille. It boasts a sporty and spacious style at the rear thanks to its double chrome-plated exhaust pipes and its gloss black connecting strip, which shows off a 3D effect with full LED signature lighting.

Inside, its wraparound seats offer personalisable and memorised settings for maximum comfort. Tall adults may feel a little crowded in the 508 SW's back seats, yet the seats are spacious at the front. There isn't much shoulder room if you must carry three people in the rear.

As for boot space, the Peugeot 508 SW offers up to 530 litres of capacity, increasing to 1,780 litres with the rear seats folded down. The boot is practical thanks to its wide tailgate opening and low loading sill. There are plenty of more practical estate cars available, but none can compare to the Peugeot 508 SW in terms of style.

Interior and Trims

The Peugeot 508 SW has a great-looking minimalist interior with a high-mounted digital driver's display and gorgeous piano-key-style switches that look more like they belong on an uber-luxurious limousine than a practical family estate car.

With its configurable digital head-up instrument panel, compact steering wheel and touchscreen display, the Peugeot 508 SW estate promises limitless ergonomics and driving enjoyment.

Four trim levels are available, including Active Premium, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium.

The entry-level comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic wipers and front and rear parking sensors. It also has a reversing camera, climate control and autonomous emergency braking standard.

The Allure Premium model adds adaptive cruise control, a lane keep assist and built-in navigation, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED front and rear lights.

The GT model comes with a 10.0-inch infotainment system with sat-nav, a premium sound system, a smartphone charging plate, a full leather interior with massaging front seats and 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels. It also adds as standard Peugeot's Drive Assist Pack Plus, which includes systems such as adaptive cruise control that also works in stop-start traffic.

The top-of-the-range GT Premium comes with everything on the GT models but adds power-adjustable front seats, a premium sound system and a 360-degree parking camera.

Power and Performance

Peugeot offers the 508 SW with a broad choice of powertrains and efficient petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid engine options.

There are two options if you are after a combustion engine-powered 508 SW: A 1.2L PureTech Petrol EAT8 Gearbox and a 1.5L BlueHDi Diesel EAT8 Gearbox. They both offer improved fuel consumption, driving pleasure and great performance.

The 508 SW plug-in hybrid combines a 180hp PureTech Petrol engine and a 110hp electric motor with an e-EAT8 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 508 SW hybrid can go up to 39 miles of range in electric-only.

The Peugeot 508 SW is great to drive, especially on the motorway, as you'll find it cruises along quietly and comfortably at speed without a great deal of wind or tyre noise.

It isn't as much fun to drive compared to some sportier alternatives, but overall, when it comes to style, the Peugeot 508 SW is a great practical family estate.

Leasing vs Buying
