Used Car Quality Standards

Comprehensive mechanical and electrical inspection ensures:

• All electronic safety features and devices are working, e.g. parking sensors, cruise control, lighting etc.
• The vehicle's engine management system is checked, including warning lights for diesel particulate filter (DPF), tyre pressure system (TPS), or oil pressure
• The vehicle is roadworthy, and no warning lights are illuminated
• There's sufficient fuel (or residual charge in the battery if an electric vehicle) to allow delivery to the customer
• There's no impact damage to the underside of the vehicle, including damage to exhausts or catalytic converters
• The window mechanisms are operational

To meet our car quality standards, the vehicle's exterior is inspected to ensure:

• Vehicle badges and logos that are part of the original build are in place and in good order
• Minor paint chips or chips to the bonnet have been touched in professionally (with no more than eight in total)
• There are no dents on the vehicle
• Painted mirror housing covers are damage/scuff free
• All lamps are in working order and meet current MOT standards
• Lenses to light units are free from any damage, except for cracks that cannot be seen from two metres and don't interfere with the light beam
• There's no rust, corrosion, or discolouration on any painted area, including painted bumpers, body moulding and mirrors
• Scratches, abrasions, and scuffs are repaired using smart repair techniques except where a replacement moulding is proven cost-effective. Where scratches cannot be polished out or touched in to a satisfactory standard, then the panel will be fully refurbished before delivery
• Panels are damage free and scuff free
• Pre-repaired chips, scratches and dents are acceptable, provided the work is completed to a professional standard
• There's no rust or corrosion on any part of the bodywork or trim of the vehicle
• Windscreens meet current MOT standards, and if there is a chip, it's repaired

NOTE: Minor scuffs and scratches up to 10mm may be present, providing the moulding or trim is not broken, cracked, or deformed.

Inside the car, specialist technicians will check the vehicle's interior to ensure:

• Seats, door trims, and carpets are in good order, with no cuts or burns evident. Any burns, cuts or drill holes will have been repaired professionally
• Carpets are stain-free and have no tears or deep scratches to the trims
• Door apertures are clean and defect-free. Where the aperture for the boot/tailgate loading area has light scuffs and/or minor scratches, these will be touched in and polished
• Load covers, blinds, and retaining straps are present and in good order
• Interior fittings such as seat belts, rearview mirrors, courtesy lights, sun visors, door bins, etc., are present, intact, and free of damage
• The vehicle is fully valeted

NOTE: Some of our used cars may show more visible signs of wear and tear across the bodywork and wheels, but we'll ensure these are in line with the age and mileage of the car.

Comprehensive equipment and control checks ensures:

• All original equipment, accessories and controls, including satellite navigation, SD cards, Bluetooth and other integrated systems, are present and operate correctly
• The aerial mast is present
• Any non-standard radio equipment/telephones are removed, and any damage to dashboards/trims is repaired using smart repair techniques or moulding replacement
• All original equipment supplied with the vehicle is present and correct

Car quality standards include checks in relation to the maintenance and service history of the car, to ensure:

• The vehicle is inspected/road tested and serviced following the manufacturer's servicing/maintenance schedule
• The service book supplied with the vehicle is present and date-stamped by the authorised repairer as evidence that required servicing has taken place
• If a service is needed within the next six months or 3,000 miles (whichever comes first), then a service will be provided
• If an MOT is needed within the next six months, then one will be conducted
• Once the vehicle has been road tested and inspected, any mechanical parts that need replacing will be repaired or replaced accordingly

Finally, a specialist technician will inspect the vehicle's tyres and wheels to ensure:

• Wheels are in good order with no dents, holes, or buckles
• All tyres, including the spare tyre, have at least 4mm of tread depth, no bald spots or edges and comply with the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations of tyre type, class, size, and speed rating for the vehicle
• Alloy wheels have no scuffs to the wheel trim or damage to the wheel face
• The spare wheel (including 'space saver' wheels), jack and other tools are intact, stowed correctly and in good working order
• The emergency tyre inflation canister, if supplied when new, is serviceable, ready for use and in full working order
• The locking wheel nut key correct to the vehicle is included
