Unlike my previous ID3, this face lifted model has suffered a few minor software glitches. The car also has the much reported noisy steering when making tight turns at around 15mph

The ID3 is a small car, but seems quite roomy inside. It's cheap to run, especially if you charge it at home on a EV Users night tariff.

The ID.3 is well built, comfortable and good to drive, with decent performance. On country A and B roads we get close to the advertised range in the summer, winter range does fall off somewhat but is still adequate for our use. Interior space is good for a car of this size. The car would be even more practical if VW could provide roof bars as an option. On the down side the heating and ventilation controls are mostly in a touch screen menu rather than actual buttons which makes them difficult to adjust when driving. The touchscreen can sometimes be slow to respond and has frozen a few times, VW need to do some work to improve the infotainment system's software.

Like driving characteristics but hate the switchgear - much prefer physical controls

This is a fully-electric vehicle. Without have accessing to a designated charging point the availability and efficiency of public charging is still patchy (and with the limited range of electric compared to diesel/petrol equivalents this would need to be a consideration for any future leasing decision).

it is impossible to control the car in icy conditions. it is quite alarming how easily it slips and skids with no purchase/ control from gears. i have never driven an automatic car previously and i find ths quite disconcerting. since only in the last week i have been linked to the VW app. i had to attend local VW dealer to have this resolved after numerous attempts at connection. further i do not know all of the functions that are available on the infotainment system as i was given no literature or guidance on this. if any literature is available to explain the functions i would be pleased to receive this. thank you
