What does the extended van warranty include?

Our comprehensive DriverFirst Warranty and Assist policy offers cover for:

  • Cover for most mechanical and electrical components, unless listed in the policy exclusions
  • Protection for key vehicle systems, including diesel particulate filters (DPFs), parking sensors, multimedia systems, LED lights, wiring harnesses, catalytic converters, airbags, exhaust systems and oil leaks
  • Helps cover the cost of labour required to repair or replace eligible components
  • Vehicle hire available for up to seven days while eligible repairs are being completed
  • Up to 60 days warranty cover if the vehicle is in the EU or EFTA (European Free Trade Association)
  • Unlimited claims throughout the policy term, with a maximum claim liability up to the value of the van at the time of purchase
  • Includes DriverFirst Assist UK Roadside Assistance and Nationwide Recovery

What is not covered by the extended van warranty?

Exclusions not be covered by the DriverFirst Warranty and Assist policy, include:

  • Components specifically excluded under the policy terms and conditions
  • The natural deterioration of parts caused by wear and tear due to age, mileage or everyday use
  • Repairs, replacements or modifications carried out without prior authorisation from the warranty administrator
  • Failures linked to vehicle modifications, accessories or non-standard parts that have contributed to the fault
  • Routine servicing items and maintenance-related replacements, including components that have not suffered a mechanical or electrical failure
  • Mechanical or electrical failure caused by faults that could have reasonably existed before the warranty started
  • Damage to exhaust systems caused by wear and tear, corrosion, accidental damage caused by speed bumps or kerbs, vehicle modifications or aftermarket or non-manufacturer-approved components
  • Damage resulting from misuse, neglect, driver error or failure to maintain the vehicle in line with the manufacturer's recommendations

While an extended van warranty can provide valuable protection, it's important to understand that not every repair or component is covered. Certain exclusions and limitations apply, so you may still be responsible for some repair costs.

It's also worth considering that, depending on the type and frequency of repairs required, some van owners may find it more cost-effective to pay for repairs as and when they arise rather than purchasing warranty cover.

For this reason, it's important to review the policy terms carefully and decide whether the level of protection offered suits your needs and budget.

Without an extended van warranty, you would be responsible for the full cost of any unexpected mechanical or electrical repairs that arise during your lease.

Keeping your van well maintained is also important, as you may be charged for any damage or excessive wear that falls outside the leasing provider's fair wear and tear guidelines when the vehicle is returned.

 Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help avoid additional costs at the end of your agreement.

If you intend to make a claim, you must call your warranty administrator and report the claim as soon as possible.

Make sure you don't put off making a claim, as this could lead to consequential damage, which may not be covered.

Yes, you can choose the garage. You'll need to ensure that the garage in question follows your policy claims procedures, which you can find in your policy document.

However, it is recommended that you get your vehicle repaired at the dealership that supplied it or another repairer. This will allow them to settle the cost of your repairs direct and will take less time.

An extended van warranty does not include routine servicing or scheduled maintenance.

To remain eligible for cover, your van must be maintained in line with the manufacturer's recommended service schedule. You should keep records of all servicing and maintenance work, as these may be required when making a warranty claim.
